An AI technology advisor/teacher is an artificial intelligence tool, usually a chatbot or digital assistant, that can explain how to use a technology in simple language. A learner can ask questions such as “How do I send a photo on WhatsApp?”, “How do I change the font size on my phone?”, or “Explain how to book an appointment online, one step at a time.”

For adults aged 55+, this can be useful because the learner can ask the same question more than once, request simpler explanations, and practise without feeling judged. However, AI is not the official support desk of the app, bank, government service or device. It may not know the exact version of the learner’s phone or the latest screen layout. It should therefore be treated more as a helper and not as an authority.
