In the first week of January, sunny Athens welcomed participants in the international SILWERS project to the first partners’ meeting. The SILWERS project (Seniors Artificial Intelligence Learning – Well Educated and Risk Secure) was created to introduce older people to the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and to raise their awareness of cybersecurity. The aim of this initiative is to equip older people with the knowledge and skills necessary to use digital technologies safely and responsibly, whilst taking into account their specific needs and limitations.
The first stage of the project work is an analysis of older people’s learning needs in the areas of AI and cybersecurity. During the meeting, as part of the Skills Anticipation Workshops, the partners developed methods and defined the scope of the research into the learning needs of the project’s beneficiaries. Which teaching methods to choose for the over-55s, and how to motivate older people to share their experiences with other participants, were among the many topics discussed by the partners during a meeting with external experts – representatives of the Greek government and non-governmental organisations – as part of the Expert Forums on AI and Cybersecurity.
The outcomes of the discussions held during the Expert Forum will help the partners to develop innovative educational content and create an online platform for educators. The SILWERS project is funded under the Erasmus+ KA220-ADU programme – Cooperation partnerships in adult education.
UE Katowice is implementing the project in an international partnership with four institutions, led by HASKOLINN A AKUREYRI (Iceland). The other partners are: the University of Economics in Katowice, Social Cooperative Enterprise Drosostalida (Greece), Vzdelavaci centrum Hello s.r.o. (Czech Republic) and TSecurity ehf (Iceland).
