SILWERS project meeting in Iceland: progress report and preparations for the launch of the educational platform
In October, a SILWERS project meeting took place at Háskólinn á Akureyri (the University of Akureyri) in Iceland. The event brought together partners from the academic sector and non-governmental organisations who are jointly developing initiatives to promote the safe digital inclusion of older people.
The meeting was attended by representatives of partner institutions, including the University of Economics in Katowice, Social Cooperative Enterprise Drosostalida, Vzdělávací centrum Hello, TSecurity ehf and the host university. This group of participants enabled the perspectives of research, education and practical experience in the field of cybersecurity to be brought together.
During the meeting, the results of research on older people from various countries were discussed, and the conclusions drawn from expert activities to date were analysed. Participants also set out a timetable for the next steps, clarified the priorities for the coming phases, and allocated tasks relating to the preparation and launch of the SILWERS educational platform.
The work carried out as part of the project addresses the real-life challenges faced by people aged 55 and over in their everyday digital lives: the need to strengthen digital skills, build a sense of online safety, and increase resilience to cyber threats.
