SILWERS: New project Erasmus+

In November 2024, the three-year SILWERS project (Seniors Artificial Intelligence Learning – Well Educated and Risk Secure) was launched, funded under the Erasmus+ KA220-ADU program – Cooperation partnerships in adult education. The project is implemented in an international partnership led by HASKOLINN A AKUREYRI (Iceland). Other partners include: the University of Economics in Katowice, Social Cooperative Enterprise Drosostalida (Greece), Vzdelavaci centrum Hello s.r.o. (Czech Republic), and TSecurity ehf (Iceland).

The main goal of the project is the development of competencies for older adults in the field of artificial intelligence, taking into account educational issues and aspects of digital security. The project responds to growing challenges related to digitalization and artificial intelligence, particularly in the context of digital inclusion and protection against cyber threats.

The SILWERS project was created with the aim of introducing older adults to the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and raising their awareness of cybersecurity. The goal of this initiative is to equip seniors with the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe and informed use of digital technologies, while taking into account their specific needs and limitations. The project focuses on AI education, developing digital competencies, and preventing digital exclusion by increasing awareness of risks associated with cyberspace. The project addresses the unique needs of seniors by providing educators with high-quality materials that can be used flexibly within University of the Third Age courses as well as in other educational programs dedicated to older adults.

The implementation of the project includes three key stages: analyzing the educational needs of seniors in the field of AI and cybersecurity, developing innovative educational content, and creating an online platform for educators. Through this tool, teachers and individuals working with seniors will be able to use clearly defined educational paths and ready-to-use materials. The project aims to provide comprehensive resources and educational strategies that will enable an effective increase in awareness and skills among older adults, supporting their fuller participation in the digital world.
