As part of the SILWERS project, the University of Akureyri organized a workshop for educators on October 10, 2025, focused on how to effectively teach seniors about artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The meeting aimed to strengthen the competencies of those working in adult education and to equip them with the tools and confidence needed to engage older participants in the dynamically changing digital world. Spotkanie miało na celu wzmocnienie kompetencji osób pracujących w edukacji dorosłych oraz wyposażenie ich w narzędzia i pewność potrzebne do angażowania starszych uczestników w dynamicznie zmieniającym się świecie cyfrowym.
During the workshop, participants jointly analyzed the pedagogical challenges associated with introducing AI topics to seniors, including the need for simple language, a calm working pace, and methods that encourage active participation. Inclusive teaching strategies were also discussed, which help older adults overcome barriers and build a sense of agency in using new technologies.
A significant element of the meeting was the presentation and discussion of the draft educational materials being developed within the project. The workshop created a space for open dialogue between educators, resource creators, and digital experts, making it possible to verify whether the content is sufficiently accessible, relevant, and easy to adapt across various educational environments.
To wspólne, praktyczne spotkanie było ważnym krokiem w przygotowaniu pakietu szkoleniowego dla edukatorów, który stanie się częścią SILWERS Knowledge & Action Pack. Dzięki zebranym opiniom i wymianie doświadczeń projekt może lepiej dopasować finalne materiały do realnych potrzeb osób uczących seniorów i zwiększyć ich użyteczność w codziennej pracy edukacyjnej.
