Understand online threats: download the ‘Online threats for the over-55s’ glossary

The SILWERS project website features a glossary entitled ‘Online threats for 55+’, compiled on the basis of the conclusions from the Expert Forums held as part of WP2. The publication organises key concepts related to digital threats and helps to discuss them simply, consistently and without misunderstandings — both in the work of educators with older people and in self-directed learning. The glossary is available in five languages: English, Polish, Greek, Czech and Icelandic.

Terminology relating to cyber threats and AI can be counterintuitive, and a misunderstanding of these concepts can lead to poor decisions (e.g. reacting too late to an attempted scam or placing unnecessary trust in false messages). The glossary therefore serves as a practical reference guide: it explains terms in an accessible way and makes it easier to recognise the most common attack patterns and forms of manipulation encountered online. We encourage you to download the relevant language version and use the glossary as a resource to support training, workshops and awareness-raising activities within the senior community.
