A guide to the world of artificial intelligence for seniors

Do you have several different ingredients in the fridge and you don’t know what to cook from them? Or do you not want to invent food and would rather have someone do it for you? Just take your phone, take a picture of the fridge and ask the artificial intelligence for advice.

How does it work?

Artificial intelligence today has the ability to “computer vision”. When you send her a picture, she analyzes it similarly to the human eye. For example, it recognizes that there are three eggs on the shelf, the rest of the ham, the cream that has been started, and that there is one zucchini and half an onion in the bottom drawer.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Open an AI app on your mobile (e.g., ChatGPT or Gemini).
  2. Tap the camera icon or the plus (+) icon in the row where you type your messages.
  3. Take a picture of the inside of your fridge or pantry. Try to make as many ingredients as possible visible (feel free to take more photos at once).
  4. Write or dictate a simple question: “Look at this photo and suggest two dishes that I can cook for lunch from these ingredients. I also have basic things like salt, oil and flour at my disposal.”
  5. Confirm the shipment. The AI will list the names of the dishes and detailed procedures on how to prepare them in no time.
