In previous modules, we learnt about bots that operate according to rigid rules – like answering machines. It’s time to meet their ‘smarter cousins’. AI chatbots are a new generation of programmes which, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, not only carry out commands but are also able to converse with us almost naturally, draw conclusions and even generate new text.
What is an AI chatbot?
It is an app that mimics a conversation with a human in a much more natural way than traditional chatbots.
- The ‘brain’ of such a bot consists of so-called large language models (LLMs), which enable it to understand the context of the entire conversation, rather than just individual keywords.
- Understanding intent: An AI bot doesn’t just scan text for keywords (such as ‘invoice’), but tries to grasp what we really mean, even if we describe a problem in a very unusual way.
- Availability: Just like ordinary bots, they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; they never get tired and can handle thousands of people at once.
